2020 MATA Symposium: May 30th, 2020

Importation information regarding the 2020 MATA Symposium--

I wanted to reach out to everyone and provide an update on this year’s annual symposium. The Executive Council and Education/Symposium Committee have made the decision to cancel this year’s in person meeting and transition to a web-based platform. This was a difficult decision but ultimately the best option. I want to thank the Education/Symposium Committee for their hard work in this effort. They have gone above and beyond this year to prepare for this event and have been incredibly adaptive with this year’s circumstances. They have worked tirelessly to provide Maryland ATs with a quality educational opportunity. This year’s web-based symposium is still being finalized but I want to provide you with some information regarding the event.

1) The goal is to provide a quality education experience in a shortened format compared to the traditional in person symposium.

2) A scaled back version is required at this time due to limited planning time and restrictions in web platforms available to the MATA.

3) Our goal is to provide this event to MATA members for free as we recognize this is a challenging financial time for many of our members, however we will still have expenses to cover.

4) We ask that you consider making a donation to the MATA PAC to help off-set the costs to our organization and support our legislative efforts. More information about this opportunity will follow.

5) We anticipate the capacity for the event may be limited (# to be determined) and encourage you to register as early as possible.

This year’s registration will take place using the CVent platform. You will only receive the opportunity to register through your email. If you are not receiving emails from the CVent platform, please inform us ASAP by emailing marylandathletictraining@gmail.com and we will add you to the distribution list.

A key component of the annual meeting has always been the Honors and Awards presentation and our annual business meeting. These events are very important as we must always take the time to honor our membership and this year we will have a transition to our new President, Gina Palermo and other Executive Council positions. At this time, we are in the planning stages of combining these events and holding them separately from the educational component due to social distancing restrictions. As these restrictions are lifted, we will be able to set a better plan for these two events and I will be in touch with our membership regarding the details.

Please be on the lookout for a future email with registration information and further details once the event is finalized. Thank you for your patience with this process.
